Lab Supervisor

Serve patients by determining the best method of retrieving specimens, preparing them for lab testing and carrying out screening procedures. Skills and qualifications run the gamut from analyzing information for performing diagnostic procedures, to infection control, solid procedural skills and professional bedside manner.
• Retrieving blood specimens by performing venipunctures and finger sticks and
• Maintaining Specimen integrity by following proper procedures.
• Tracking specimens by with initials, dates and time of collection, and keeping a tally of daily collections.
• Performing, recording and reporting glucose tests.
• Performing bleeding-times tests.
• Initiating communication with physicians, pathologists and nursing stations in relation to unusual test orders.
• Maintaining professional knowledge by participating in ongoing educational opportunities and professional organizations.
• Promoting safety in the workplace by adhering to professional standards; hospital guidelines and policies; federal, state, and local laws; and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare standards.
As a Phlebotomists need to gather information from patients, explain medical details to them, listen effectively, respond to their needs and emotions, and respect cultural differences. I interact successfully with patients' families, doctors and nurses, supervisors and students, procedural techniques involved in performing patient care, I have stamina to be on feet for long stretches of time have a constant flow of patients throughout the day.
