Research historian, Heritage Research Center, a public history research firm based in Missoula, MT. Did research into land uses of Newtown Creek, Queens, New York City, as part of a SuperFund clean-up project (February 2013-August 2013).

Research Historian, Trinity Wall Street Episcopal Church, New York City. Did archival research for a new history of the church (September 2012-February 2013).

Public Historian, for the Hoboken Historical Museum, Hoboken, N.J. Conducted oral histories through a grant from of the Center for Puerto Rican Studies, Hunter College (CUNY), to document the relationship between the Roman Catholic Church and the Puerto Rican community in Hoboken, N.J., between 1945-1975 (October 2009-April 2010).

Fulbright scholar

Awarded a Fulbright scholar teaching/research fellowship at the University of Bremen, Bremen, Germany, September 2014-January 2015. Taught a course about German immigration to America from the 17th-20th centuries and did archival research for a book. Also gave five lectures around the country to university students and high school teachers of English and American Studies, and presented preliminary research at a maritime history conference at the German Maritime Museum in Bremerhaven, Germany.

Wagner Labor Archives, New York University Libraries, New York City, for the temporary exhibition “Driving for Justice, New York Taxi Workers Alliance Records, 1972-2011,” on display at the Tamiment Library from December 4, 2013-May 1, 2014 (October-December 2013).

Associate guest curator, Museum of the City of New York, New York City, Puffin Foundation Gallery inaugural exhibition “Activist New York” (August 2010-May 2012). Key tasks performed:
• researched the history of various social movements in New York City as part of the larger task of conceptualizing the new gallery;
• located objects;
• negotiated loans;
• wrote and edited panel and label text;
• developed an interactive timeline of key events in New York City history;
• worked with designers to design lay out of a 14-section permanent exhibit;
• worked with educational staff to develop school curricula materials;
• met with advisory committee members and foundation funders;
• supervised interns;
• managed a 300+ object list.

Guest curator, Hoboken Historical Museum, Hoboken, NJ
Curated the temporary exhibition “Hoboken, Ellis Island, and the Immigrant Experience, 1892-1924,” on display at the Hoboken Historical Museum August 3, 2014-December 21, 2014 (August 2013-August 2014). Also wrote grant applications to fund the exhibition and accompanying lecture series, and organised the lecture series.
Curated the temporary exhibition “I Belong, A History of Civic and Social Clubs in Hoboken,” on display at the Hoboken Historical Museum July 29, 2012-December 23, 2012 (March 2012-July 2012).
Curated the temporary exhibition “Heaven, Hell, or Hoboken, A City Transformed by World War I,” on display at the Hoboken Historical Museum September 7, 2008-December 23, 2008 war (March 2008-January 2009). Also organised accompanying lecture series.
